<title>Desktopzoom 2.1</title>
<link>http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Other-Desktop-Enhancements/DesktopZoom.shtml</link>
<description>
Desktopzoom 2.1 is a free full-screen magnifier for Windows 2000 and XP only created by MyLinks. There are many options within this small program that nearly rival Ai Squard product Zoomtext, and is able to serve as a solid alternative if Zoomtext serials or CDs are lost. The best experience with Desktopzoom 2.1 is with JAWS running in the background with all cursor/keyboard tracking options turned on in Desktopzoom. Use JAWS first to configure Desktopzoom fully before starting the program.Known Issues:White cursor tends to blend into white backgrounds or light colors easily.Using ALT+TAB to switch programs in Windows will step out of Desktopzoom.Process of magnification is only an overlay, and not true video intercept, creating a slightly delayed reaction to all use of Desktopzoom.

<link></link>
<description>
There is a critical error that occurs when installing version 8.1x of Adobe Acrobat Reader with Zoomtext 8/9 running. After the install, an attempt to run the program will result in the following error: “Invalid plugin detected. Adobe Reader will quit.”Cause:The AI2Z_PDFAHOI plugin file being initiated by Zoomtext in the Adobe Acrobat “plug_ins” folder causes this error..Resolution:To resolve this issue, “AI2Z_PDFAHOI” must be deleted from the “plug_ins” folder,C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\plug_insUnfortunately, this file is replaced every instance of Adobe Acrobat Reader is closed and reopened. No fix has been issued by Adobe or Ai Squared at this time. Therefore, a shortcut to the above path is recommended to remove this file for future uses of Adobe Acrobat Reader with Zoomtext.Source:Adobe Forums &quot;Invalid plugin detected&quot;

<title>Non-Visual Desktop Access (Screen Reader)</title>
<link>http://www.nvda-project.org/download.html</link>
<description>
Developed By: Michael CurranSummary:Non-Visual Desktop Access is a free screen reader for use with Windows Operating Systems.Pros:Supports Mozilla Firefox browsing.Mapping and sensitivity of screen reading is higher than JAWS, offering a more in depth experience of desktop browsing and basic tasks.Good start for going beyond Microsoft Narrator.Cons:No support yet for Microsoft Office suite of applications.No support yet for AOL Instant Messenger (or other assumable IM clients).NVDA fully controls keyboard movements, leaving open instability for other applications.Bottom Line: This screen reader has great potential, but for the time being should not be relied upon as a replacement for JAWS, Window Eyes, or other commercial products.
